What is Business Process Optimisation? Historically it has had many names including Business Process Re-Engineering, and Business Performance Improvement to name just two. At Sapio Associates we believe it is simply “doing things better, faster, cheaper”.

Symptoms of poor business processes (or doing things badly) include:

• Inconsistent outputs, i.e. products or services produced vary in quality or quantity for no known reason, leading to customer complaints.
• Defects or rejects are too high.
• Outputs vary in timeliness and nobody knows why.
• Production flow always seem to hit a bottleneck.
• Sales never get the quotes out on time.
• Waste levels are excessive and costly.
• Supplies are often late or not what is wanted.
• Never having enough time to get the job done.

• Establish performance goals and measures.
• Identify which one person is responsible.
• Measure and review what current performance is.
• Indentify and make process changes to meet the goal.
• Review performance and embed new processes.
